Other ideas using these glass balls:
~~drop in a little watered down paint and let your kids shake them.
~~add stickers (letters for initials are super-cute)!
~~for an "adult looking" ornament carefully stuff in an entire sheet of printed tissue paper (think animal print or something else out of the ordinary).
~~paint markers work great on these ornaments, so you can pretty much personalize them however you'd like!
I have about a dozen left, so we'll be crafting a few more this season; would love to hear your suggestions if you have any!!

Ha! So glad you posted this. I actually had wanted to do something like this a few years ago and couldn't find any instructions on an "easy" production of it. So, being not anything close to Martha Stewart, just bailed on the idea. Now, I'm going to so try this. I love it!
Hi! Visiting from Sudeana's blog...my kiddos have done this cool craft using colored feathers on the inside of the ornament. Super sense of accomplishment! Merry Christmas!!
Oh, what I had "dreamed" of doing last year and couldn't figure out the logistics...I wanted to get Christmas themes onto ornaments. For instance, write "Peace" and then either quote a short piece of a verse or just put the reference. I wanted and still want our whole tree to be filled with items that point to Christ at Christmas vs. just the typical decorated tree. I also wanted to do this to serve as good gifts (particularly to lost friends and family) that may serve as an "ice breaker" or reminder of truth shared with them. I think I may even run up to Hickory today to grab the supplies from Hobby Lobby to make up some gifts for my coworker girlfriends.
