Homemade Play Dough

Recently we spent some family time making play dough. I know what you're thinking--the same thing I've always thought about homemade play dough: why would you make it when it's so cheap to buy? I'm with you! However, Annabelle and I were asked to make some play dough for her preschool classroom to use, and we had so much fun together that we've been planning on doing it again! This time everyone got involved!

Here's the recipe we used:

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
4 tbsp. cream of tartar
2 pkg. kool aid
2 cups water
2 tbsp. oil

Mix dry ingredients. Stir in water and oil.

Cook over medium heat stirring constantly. When mixture forms a ball in the pan, remove from heat. Knead until smooth. Store in a ziploc baggie.

The kool aid makes it smell really great!

We even wrapped some up with a few cookie cutters to share with friends!
